The Reci birches

Natural sights

Address

Reci, Jud. Covasna, Romania

About

The Reci birches is a sandy Pleistocene deposit with ponds and partially clogged small lakes with a diverse flora and fauna, rare for Romania.

At the moment the site is heavily anthropized, the birch biocenosis has been almost totally deforested and in their place was planted forest pine. The meadow grassland biocenosis has been heavily modified by grazing.

The site has a special scientific importance due to the hygrophilous species, rare for Romania, represented by hygrophilous species of sloughy soils and margins of wooden swamps.
