Irma BrĂłsz - Memorial Exhibition
About
đ¨ On July 28, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., at the âKĂĄdĂĄr LĂĄszlĂłâ Art Gallery, to mark the 115th anniversary of the artistâs birth and the 50th anniversary of her death, the opening of the commemorative exhibition Irma BrĂłsz (Covasna, 1911 â Cluj-Napoca, 1976).
đŠâđ¨ The exhibition not only showcases the work of painter Irma BrĂłsz but also offers a glimpse into her life and the world of her past, through the lens of personal memories and family stories. The exhibition evokes the past from a unique perspective: intimate stories, the artistâs childhood home in Covasna, her family history, and glimpses that sketch the daily life and personality of an artist.
At the same time, it invites us on a journey through timeâto an era that, viewed through the lens of todayâs fast-paced and cosmopolitan world, seems almost like a curiosity. Before the visitorâs eyes, a facet of the city with a slower pace comes to life: streets that seem to have stood still in time and a painter who, with her small chair and easel, traverses the city and the landscape surrounding Cluj and the HĂĄromszĂŠk region, searching for subjects and silently observing her surroundings.
đź Among the works on display, the portraits that have never been exhibited before hold a special place. The exhibition features, among others, portraits of JenĹ KovĂĄcs Katona - a poet, prose writer, publicist, and sociographer - as well as JĂłzsef KĂśves, a left-wing intellectual, journalist, and editor affiliated with the circle of the magazine âKorunk.â
The exhibition pays tribute to the work of Irma BrĂłsz and offers a sensitive retrospective of daily life in a bygone era - a world in which creativity and contemplation were closely intertwined. đ§Ą
đ The exhibition is open through August 31, 2026.
