🏛️ Red Star Museum – A journey through the history of Communism

❓ What was life like in a time when freedom was restricted and the regime's decisions influenced every aspect of daily existence? In Sfântu Gheorghe, the Red Star Museum offers a distinctive museum experience, bringing history to life through authentic stories, original objects and interactive technologies.

Housed in the former Tobacco Factory, the museum invites visitors to explore almost five decades of history across three levels, from the dramatic events of 1944 to the fall of the communist dictatorship and the early years of the democratic transition.

📖 The exhibition is organised into three thematic sections: “Red Dawn”, dedicated to deportations, political persecution and repression during the early years of communism; “Red Banner”, which explores the establishment and consolidation of the regime, with particular attention to Transylvania and the Székely region; and “Red Star”, which focuses on the Ceaușescu era, everyday life, propaganda and the social transformations leading up to 1989.

From the freight railway wagons evoking the tragedy of deportations and the survivors' testimonies to the Dacia car, a symbol of socialist industry, and the simulator recreating the 1977 earthquake, each space offers a different perspective on the past. Multimedia installations and interactive experiences further enrich the exhibition, turning the visit into an engaging and thought-provoking encounter with history.
