About
Gusztáv Cseh, an internationally renowned master of Transylvanian modern Hungarian graphic art!
✨ His unrivaled talent for drawing was already evident in his caricatures and book illustrations. However, his name became famous with his first exhibition in Cluj in 1965, and since then he has been considered a leading figure of the Cluj school of graphic art. With his ink drawings, he created an elegant, dramatic, but also adventurous and playful universe of the big world, which brought something radically new to Transylvanian art. His creations have been exhibited at numerous national and international exhibitions and graphic biennials. He illustrated more than 300 books. For decades, his graphic works, caricatures and illustrations were published in almost all Hungarian newspapers and magazines.
🔶 The current exhibition features more than 40 unique graphic works illustrating the most important stages of the artist's career. In addition to early linocuts and workers' sketches conceived in the spirit of the social revolution, the exhibition includes important etchings from the late seventies, and a rich selection of the artist's ex-libris. In addition, two complete series of engravings of exceptional value for the history of Transylvanian Hungarian culture will also be presented.
