Pilgrimige on Saint Stephen's Day to the Perkő Hill

Every year, on the day of Saint Stephen (August 20), the Roman Catholic believers start make a pilgrimige from the statue of Saint Stephen in Sânzieni village to the place of pilgrimage located on Perkő Hill rising above Sânzieni. There is a chapel built in the 13th century in honor of King Saint Stephen, the first Christian king of Hungary.
The Perkő (in Hungarian, Vârful Filtrului Hill in Romanian) is rising above Sânzieni. On the top of the hill you can see the small four-foiled chapel in the distance, shouting the message of Christianity from afar. The chapel was built around 1680 by Sámuel Kálnoki in memory of King Saint Stephen. The thick plaster wall painting, discovered in 1995, shows St Stephen in the centre, St Ladislaus on the right and St Emeric on the left.
