The Sound of Old Engines - 12th edition

The popular event gathers young and old, from across borders and beyond. The whole village resounds from the sound of veteran agricultural machines, these being joined by other tractors and machines, even from abroad. What else could this day at the open-air museum be about than tradition and folk culture?

The Sound of Old Engines - PROGRAM
21st september 2024

12:00 – Gathering, starting the old engines 

13:00 – Parade of vintage tractors in the center of Cernat

14:00 – Return and presentation of vintage tractors 

On the stage, starting at 15:00: 
                – Brass band concert of the youth from Târgu-Secuiesc region

                – Folk dance presented by the „Perkő” group from Sânzieni

                – Cover’n Cover concert with Judit Kátai and Ferenc Orbán

Ora 17:00 – Tombola

Permanent programs during the event:
 – Tradtional bread baking in the museum garden
 – Art and craft activities
 – Traditional folk games for children

              

The "Haszmann Pál" Museum in Cernat is set in the Damokos mansion, built in a neoclassical style. Exhibits from the building heritage of Szeklerland are displayed on the two hectares around the mansion: houses and gates of the szeklers, a water mill, as well as Szekler funerary monuments carved from wood and stone. The exhibition of tools and agricultural machines in the open air provokes the curiosity of the visitors, being unique in Transylvania.
