✨ Discover the history of the Székely National Museum and the Public Hunting Collection of Szeklerland, then dive into the world of Transylvanian artists and porcelain dolls.
🔹 Székely National Museum 🏛
You should start your walking tour with one of the oldest museums in Central Europe, which is also the largest Hungarian public collection beyond the border. It was founded by the "grand lady" of Covasna County, Emilia Csereyné Zathureczky; the group of buildings was designed by Károly Kós. In the exhibition "Milestones" you can learn about the history of the museum: have you ever imagined that in 1900 the museum participated in the Paris World Exhibition? After visiting the museum, be sure to take a walk in the dendrological park.
⏰ Opening hours: Tuesday-Sunday: 9:00-17:00 (summer); Tuesday-Friday: 9:00-16:00, Saturday-Sunday: 9:00-14:00 (winter), closed Mondays and on religious and legal holidays.
Do not miss the collection at the Bene House, where you can learn about the richness of the region's species and game, as well as the local hunting culture, through nearly 300 trophies and hundreds of hunting-related objects. The diorama of the Sub Carpathians of Curvature illustrates the species of game that can be hunted in full life-size, showing their habitats. On the walls of the exhibition there are also a number of important trophies, which occupy prominent positions in world rankings, such as the largest deer shot in Romania. You can also see the skin of a bear shot by the late communist dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu in Covasna County.
