Woodland • Baraolt Basin

🌲 The Baraolt Basin is a micro-region in the northwestern part of Covasna County. It covers the area of the historical Brăduț-Micloșoara region and is geographically roughly the same as the Baraolt Depression. The basin becomes a special and unique destination through the magnificent natural environment, numerous and varied mineral water sources, the rich built heritage, and the folk crafts still alive today.

Listen to the rhythmic thumping of the wheels of the watermill in Bățanii Mici, and the drops of the karst water in the Balázs Orbán Cave; admire the Făgăraș Mountains illuminated by the setting sun from the top of the Crucii Hills and the unique colours of the painted furniture in Vârghiș. Taste the “áfonyapálinka” (blueberry brandy) in the shade of a tree that has witnessed the revival of old mansions or the original goulash soup in the oldest building of Micloșoara. Feel the gentle poking of carbon dioxide bubbles in the mineral water baths and the warmth of the spring sun among the daffodils of the Kankós Garden in Filia. 💚
