About
The Arcade House was built between 1818 and 1822 in Neoclassical style, when the current image of the city centre began to take shape. It also served as a death house, where the freedom fighters József Váradi and Ferenc Bartalis spent the night before their execution in 1854. It was threatened with demolition before the First World War, but the outbreak of war saved it. Between 1958- 2002 it was the home of the County Archives. Having been completely renovated in 2008, today it is a building, which hosts exhibitions and events of various institutions and museums.
