Guilds, Dolls, Pharmacies
The museum in Târgu Secuiesc, also known as the guild town, was inaugurated in the spring of 1972 in the former town hall building and is now known as the Incze László Museum of the History of Guild and Pharmacy. A permanent exhibition of traditional craftsmen - potters, bootmakers, shoemakers, tanners, locksmiths, gingerbread makers, hatters, tailors - tools and workshop equipment, along with written documents, flags, crates, and plaques, preserve the memory of the guilds and craftsmen of the past. The exhibition reflects the economic and social development of the town.
The institution's other special collection is aimed primarily at children, but it won't bore adults either. The first versions of the folk-costumed couple Andris and Zsuzsi were made by Transylvanian children in 1970-71 at the invitation of the magazine Jóbarát. Part of the collection of the Székely National Museum was handed over to the museum in Târgu Mureş in 1974, and in 1995 the entire collection - out of which 247 items be viewed in three rooms - was transferred to the museum in Târgu Mureş.
The pharmacy museum is located on the floor of the so-called Finta House. The former round porch house was built after the great fire of 1835 and was demolished in 1972 due to its dilapidated state. The current building was rebuilt in 1978, preserving the old form of the house. The material on display was saved for posterity by Chief Medical Officer Dr Oliver Boga. The collection is based on the equipment and tools of pharmacies No. 24 and 52 in Târgu Mureş after 1949, together with the collection of Dr Boga.
