Peregrine falcon in the gorge

Peregrine falcon in the gorge

We wanted to escape from the unbearable heat of the town. I knew that the temperature and the time spent with recreation in the Vârghiș Gorge would be pleasant. At the entrance of the natural reserve, we saw that many people thought the same as us, but there was room for everyone. As we were advancing in the shade of the trees, along the Vârghiș stream, it became clear: everyone could find their favourite pastime in the gorge. For example, children considered long swing bridges interesting, which swayed tantalisingly, when one jumped on it once or twice.

Walking along the gorge, it was pleasant to cool off under the canopy of the trees. There was heavy traffic at the Orbán Balázs Cave, where the unmistakeable pungent smell of bird droppings could be felt, and the presence of bats could be heard. Rock climbers also took advantage of the nice weather, scrambling up the steep limestone wall like Spiderman, while the bravest tried the 140 m high and 240 m long, sinuous “Peregrine Falcon” Via Ferrata.

At the moment, I am gathering the courage to try it myself next time.
