The Heritage of Dénes Csiszár
An elegantly restored bathhouse that carries on the tradition is located in the forest opposite the castle of Bálványos. The Csiszár Baths, one of the most popular tourist destinations in Târgu Secuiesc and its surroundings, is an attempt to revive both history and folk medicine.
The former discovery of mineral springs is a typical story: the distiller Dénes Csiszár from Târgu Secuiesc stabbed his chair into the ground during a hunt, and the ground became pendulous with water within minutes. The discovery of the mineral springs is a typical story: the distiller Csiszár Dénes from Târgu Secuiesc during a hunt stuck his stool in the ground, and the ground became swampy within minutes because of the water that came to the surface. In a short time, the contractor built a "bathhouse" on this site, but not for economic reasons because the pools could be used for free by everyone. He was well ahead of his time, since balneology, the science of the utilization of medicinal waters, was in its infancy at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
The renovation of the bath, which was deprivatised in 1948, was carried out to a large extent jointly and, for the time being, only affected the cold baths. It is attributed to the Taierling brothers, Johann and Péter-Ferenc cherishing the memory of their grandfather, Dénes Csiszár, and their great-grandmother, Róza Török. They were both brought up in Germany, and Johann moved back to Târgu Secuiesc in 2005. And the mineral springs of the former bath are still effective in alleviating the complaints of people suffering from various musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, and digestive diseases.
