Dear children, dear lovers of nature! 🌳 Let’s have some fun! Come and have a trip with me in the forest of giants and fairies. On this forest adventure you can get an insight into the fairytale world of Covasna County. The forest trail is 5 km long, with 20 metres elevation gain, and takes maximum an hour and a half to complete. The route is easily accessible on foot or by bike, for adults and children alike.  🤩 See the animated legend of the Birch Forest in Reci, which can be viewed using the QR codes at the 5 stations along the trail. Ask your parents or adult companion to scan the QR code on the sign boards of the stations with their phones, then select the link to the English-language cartoon excerpt and watch a fragment from the legend. By the time you return from your fabulous tour you will know the full story. Horseshoe-shaped signs painted on trees and waymarker posts will help you stay on the right path. So follow the horseshoe! Adventure time! Zete PS: Since there is no water spring on the route, it is advisable to take at least half a litre of water with you. The route is in a natural reserve: don’t litter, bring back your garbage to the bins in the car park! Respect nature: don’t disturb wildlife, protect vegetation! Please do not damage the signs, do not paint them! I'm sure other children will want to watch the cartoon after you. Thank you. 💚

Ciomatu Mare Mountain is the last and youngest member of the volcanic Carpathian Mountains that form an arc. Traces of former volcanic activity can still be seen today in the conical form of the mountain, in the crater lake of Sfânta Ana and in the Mohos Peat Bog, as well as in the healing springs and sulfur-smelling mofettes erupting from the deep. The ancient ruins of Bálványos Castle bear witness to the valiant past of this region.  The best starting point for exploring the most interesting sights of the mountains is Băile Bálványos or Bálványos Resort. The difficulty level of the routes is easy or medium and the longest is 6.5 km. Those who approach the mountains by train should be prepared for longer walks. From Bixad to the Cecele peak, you have to follow the path marked with a blue cross for fourteen kilometers, it can take 5-6 hours to overcome the 1200 m level difference.

🌄 Lăcăuți Peak is the highest point in Covasna County, which can be reached by several tourist routes. The most accessible are the routes that start from Comandău, the settlement at the highest altitude in the county. The hunting lodge, located at the place called "Máté Pál", can also be reached by car and from there, the tour itself begins on a route with medium difficulty lasting 3-4 hours, following the red dot marking (route 11). Throughout the tour we can enjoy a superb panoramic view, and once we reach Lăcăuți Peak, at 1777 m altitude, if we are lucky with good weather, we can even admire the Făgăraș Mountains. There is also a meteorological station on the peak, which transmits weather data even today. On the route, near the peak, there is a mountain refuge, built and maintained by the County Center for Nature Protection and Mountain Rescue, which can be called in case of an emergency at the phone number displayed there. From Comandău we can also reach Lăcăuți Peak on a longer route, 10 hours long, following the yellow triangle marking (route 12.). 🥾 For those who prefer more difficult routes, there are two possibilities: the blue dot route from Zăbala commune which lasts 12-13 hours (route 6.) and one also marked with the blue dot, which starts from the Clermont Hotel in Covasna and lasts 11-12 hours (route 7.) 👉 More detailed information about the routes described in Romanian can be found HERE!

🌳 In Sugaș Băi guests have plenty of recreational opportunities to choose from, both in winter and summer. There are two ski slopes for winter sports enthusiasts and during the warm season a mini golf course, an adventure park and a climbing wall are available. The use of the Șugaș SPA with a gym, table tennis and wellness area is independent of season.  🚴 Hiking and cycling are also possible in the area. There are two marked cycling routes: “EasyRide” in blue and “Ride” in red. EasyRide is a light, in some places moderately difficult, 16.70 km long route with a level difference of 500 m, while Ride is a medium difficulty, 17.53 km long one with 660 m level difference. Both start from the former barrier on the driveway leading to Sugaș Băi, from where EasyRide runs along the ridge and Ride rises to Gurgău peak, as arriving to the top of the resort and then descending back to the starting point, on the old road of the Șugaș Băi. 🥾 Hikers can take a real all day long, 9-10 hours, 28 km, medium-difficulty hike around Sugaș Băi following the red dot sign. The route, dotted with wooded parts and clearings, will start from the Büdös-well spring in Sfântu Gheorghe, touching Vâlcele and the spring called Gyertyános well to the 1017 m high Gurgău peak. From here, through Sugaș Băi, and through a small ascent of Sikó mountain, the road descends all the way to the end of the tour, which will be in Calvin square, Sfântu Gheorghe. 👉 You can find more hiking trails in the area HERE!
