About
Lăcăuți Peak is the highest point in Covasna County, which can be reached by several tourist routes. The most accessible are the routes that start from Comandău, the settlement at the highest altitude in the county. The hunting lodge, located at the place called "Máté Pál", can also be reached by car and from there, the tour itself begins on a route with medium difficulty lasting 3-4 hours, following the red dot marking (route 11). Throughout the tour we can enjoy a superb panoramic view, and once we reach Lăcăuți Peak, at 1777 m altitude, if we are lucky with good weather, we can even admire the Făgăraș Mountains. There is also a meteorological station on the peak, which transmits weather data even today. On the route, near the peak, there is a mountain refuge, built and maintained by the County Center for Nature Protection and Mountain Rescue, which can be called in case of an emergency at the phone number displayed there. From Comandău we can also reach Lăcăuți Peak on a longer route, 10 hours long, following the yellow triangle marking (route 12.).
For those who prefer more difficult routes, there are two possibilities: The blue dot route from Zăbala commune which lasts 12-13 hours (route 6.) and one also marked with the blue dot but which starts from the Clermont Hotel in Covasna and lasts 11-12 hours (route 7.)
